First of all lets get one thing clear .... Border Guards are scary scary people.

Today started out on the Coho ferry, an older ferry that crosses from Victoria-Port Angeles and it was awesome, lots of chop out there today so we were going back and forth across the deck.  And just before we came into port we had to divert slightly as one of the big (and i mean huge) US nuclear submarines was coming back into town.  Really awesome to see as the navy escort guided it in.

After that it was just a lot of driving through what used to be forests and is now just stumps surrounded by nothingness, a real example of how crappy we are at being good to our stuff.

Seaside! Couch Surfing! Driving alone! what do the all have in common?  I would go crazy if it was the only thing i knew.

Seaside - gorgeous huge beach stretching as far as the eye can see, very much a tourist town.
Couch Surfing - Neil Branson, amazing host, clearly loves meeting people and helping out what ever way possible.  I wasn't sure how it would work out but so far couch surfing and I are friends!
Driving alone - I love the freedom and the ability to go where ever I want... I wish my stuffed polar bear was better at communicating.

Victoria BC

Well after figuring out that I am in fact challenged and that by not putting up the link to the blog, nobody will read it.  I figured that today I would post about the trip more than the day itself, considering today was just a feeding frenzy of awesomeness. 

Here is the run down.  I left yesterday April 1st 2011 from home ( Vancouver BC) and my end destination is Toronto ON. Number time

Distance - 12,000km+ 

States/ Provinces - 22+ states 2 Provinces

Days - 23-26 

Couches to be surfed - 15+ 

National Parks - 9

Times I could listen to "Friday by Rebecca Black - 3,440 (roughly) 

That is all just the rough estimates. 

That seems to be it for today!  Of to do a bit of driving around Victoria before we settle down for the last sleep before the real journey begins.

Today is hardly a day worth writing about but i assure you that it will get more entertaining in the coming few days.  It was a relatively short adventure today under 100km but that still provided lots of fun.  For only the second time in my life I had the awesome experience of seeing killer whales in the wild. Just about 60 feet off the side of the ferry they surfaced and came up like 5 times. So epic.

Mow I am sitting 8 beers into the night and looking forward to the rest of the night. I ran into a friend from childhood at the bar and it was excellent. Life has a way of being Awesome.

Now it is time to hit the bar. Michael, Fraser, Sarah, Katarina, Siobhan, Kristy, Megan Kathryn and I are off.
